How I started a blog in 2018

Starting a blog is not as easy as it seems. Here is how i got started.

I have wanted to Start a blog for a long while now. After a good few years of scrolling through Pinterest reading post after post about how to start a blog I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. Would people actually read it? Would people hate me? So after getting so worked up about it I thought I’m never going to know if I don’t start.

What will I blog about?

This is what bugged me the most. I was full of ideas but kept reading posts about needing a niche. Honestly I can’t say I have one at this moment. I felt like this was holding me back. I love saving money and getting organised yet I also love fashion beauty and crafting. It was so frustrating i couldn’t decide on anything specific. For now  my content will just be whatever I feel like writing about. I just hope I haven’t gotten off to a bad start.

Start a blog

How to get started:

  • Choose a name for your blog.

Since I don’t have a specic niche I just went with a basic domain name. Once I had come up with the name “” i did a quick google search and couldn’t find another site by that name. Yay!!! So I hurried along an purchased it. However if you do have a niche it’s probably better to go with something aimed towards your niche.

  • Web hosting

I wanted to choose a company I could trust. So I went with go daddy. They’d had a good offer on and they also allow you to pay monthly which was perfect for me ( couldn’t really afford to pay for a years subscription in one go ☹️) .

  • Install WordPress

Of all the posts I’ve read over time the one thing that was common throughout was installing WordPress. Due to my constant search to start a blog, I felt a bit more knowledgeable regarding using WordPress as a blogging platform. I have to say that I absolutely love it. It’s very easy to use and does not require too much computer knowledge. Perfect for someone who is not great with technology.

  • Install plugins

WordPress Is amazing for plugins. There are plugins for everything you can think of. However at this point as I am a newbie blogger I have only installed a few, so this section will need to be revisited. Yoast SEO has to be my favourite so far. It has helped me a great deal in writing this post alone I had not realised I was making some huge errors with regards to SEO

thats all the basics covered for now (I hope). I just need to start working on the content.

  • Content (most important point)

If i want to make my blog any form of a success, then producing great content is a must. I feel it’s what I need to work on the most. There are tons of ideas floating around my head. It’s just producing them into great content and actually making sense ha ha. But practice makes perfect.

After I have typed out a few more posts I will then hit publish eeekkk!!!

What I’ve discovered so far:

  • Blogging is not as easy as I first thought.
  • There is still so much more to learn.
  • It takes a great deal of hard work and determination.
  • Great original content is a must.
  • Not to compare myself to others ( this is my journey)
What’s next…..

Aside from writing some great content.  My blog needs some social media handles. Yet I don’t want to jump out of the frying pan and  into the fire. so for now I will just stick with two. since I’m currently totally in love with Pinterest I will start there first follow me here

Just go for it!!!!!!!

If anyone is interested in starting a blog my advice would be….. Just go for it!!!! What do you have to lose? Don’t worry about what others think your own opinion is what matters most. So just be yourself and you will shine.

Thank you so much for reading. I am a newbie blogger and by no means an expert. However I just wanted to share with you how I started this blog.

How was your first experience in starting a blog?
